How to Find Joy in Suffering?
There are times when we experience hardship, and even in the midst of the
frustration, we can choose joy in the trial (James 1:2-4). Choosing joy in all circumstances is difficult, but despite what’s happening, we need to remember that our suffering has a purpose (Romans 8:28). It makes us more like Jesus, and God never wastes a hurt. Suffering strengthens us if we choose joy; when we focus on spiritual completeness and maturing instead of comfort and giving into temptation (James 1:12-16; 2 Timothy 4:6-8; 1 Corinthians 10:13).
1) How can I find joy in all life’s circumstances? How can I find joy in a current difficult situation?
2) What past trial had God gotten me through? How can that experience help me through what I’m going through now?
3) Where am I seeking comfort instead of spiritual growth? How can I choose maturity instead of comfort?
