Breaking Spiritual Strongholds
There’s an ongoing spiritual battle for our souls (Colossians 1:13-14; John 8:44). On one side is God our Father and on the other is Satan, the deceiver our souls (Genesis 3:4-5; 1 John 5:19). God is far superior to everything in this world, both seen and unseen, and because of His Spirit who lives inside us, we are powerful (John 12:31; John 14:30). But we sometimes are deceived by the devil, who always tries to get us to believe lies about ourselves (1 Peter 5:8-9). And there’s good news: In the middle of struggle and as tough as things might be, we can know that we are already victorious over the strongholds in our life. The devil is already defeated; Jesus has already won. Through confession, repentance, accountability and biblical truth, we can tear down those strongholds and gain freedom (2 Corinthians 10:3-6; 1 John 1:8-10; James 5:16).
1) What are some strongholds that keep me stuck? What are the lies I believe about myself/my life, and what does the Bible say about it?
2) How does my life change knowing that with God we are already victorious over the my strongholds?
3) Who are my accountability partners? How do they help me navigate the tough situations I’m going through?
