There’s an ongoing spiritual battle for our souls (Colossians 1:13-14; John 8:44). On one side is God our Father and on the other is Satan, the deceiver our souls (Genesis 3:4-5; 1 John 5:19). God is far superior to everything in this world, both seen and unseen, and because of His Spirit who lives inside us, we are powerful (John 12:31; John 14:30). But we sometimes are deceived by the devil, who always tries to get us to believe lies about ourselves (1 Peter 5:8-9). And there’s good news: In the middle of struggle and as tough as things might be, we can know that we are already victorious over the strongholds in our life. The devil is already defeated; Jesus has already won. Through confession, repentance, accountability and biblical truth, we can tear down those strongholds and gain freedom (2 Corinthians 10:3-6; 1 John 1:8-10; James 5:16).
