Back to Serving
In a world that says the greatest is the one at the top, God says that the greatest is actually the one who serves (Mark 10:35-45). It’s easy to fall into the lie that more is better, that it’s all about “us.” Sometimes we don’t want to serve others because we’re tired, or we’re too tired/busy focusing on ourselves, or we simply don’t care enough to do anything (Matthew 22:37-40). But don’t be afraid of doing the dirty work because it’s where you’ll find Jesus there too. We’re called to serve whoever God puts in front of us (John 13:1-17). The heart with which we serve matters most. When resentment, obligation and pride start to settle in, we can combat them with gratitude, humility and love (Colossians 3:23-24).
1) Who are the “neighbors” God has placed in my life? How can I love them like Jesus loves me?
2) How is my servant heart? Do I consider myself to be servant hearted?
3) What am I grateful for? How has God shown me grace and His love?
