Palm Sunday: Shattered Expectations

Sometimes things in life don’t turn out the way we want, but we can still maintain our faith in the face of unmet expectations (Matthew 21:8-11). We expect God to come in and fix things for us, but we get frustrated when He shatters our expectations and the outcome we want doesn’t come to fruition (John 19:12-15). We end up shaping our image of God into what we expect — our expectations will often shape what you eventually experience. But we cannot let our unmet expectations distract us from God’s greater purpose. There are times when we will struggle with unmet expectations, but please remember that Jesus has already determined our destiny! We must stay faithful when things don’t go how we want them to. When our lives don’t go as expected, remember that God’s plan is not affected (Hebrews 4:15-16).

Points To Ponder
1) What are some expectations that haven’t been met in my life?
2) Will I choose to trust in God’s greater purpose?
3) How can I stay faithful when my expectations are not met?
