All of us have experienced moments of unbelief (Mark 9:21-24). Even while we believe in what God does and has done, when dealing with a difficult situation, we can struggle with knowing His goodness to be true. But God doesn’t expect perfection in the battle of our minds — He can handle our unbelief, questions and doubts. We can turn toward God and ask Him for help in the middle of our unbelief (Hebrews 3:12). We also learned that Jesus came to usher in a new kind of Kingdom that’s for everyone, especially those who feel they don’t deserve His grace and goodness (Philippians 2:8-9). Christians are called to be servants in that effort who do help others out of love for God and His people. The heart of a servant is humble, helpful and hopefully, which means it’s often uncomfortable when we have to stretch and be flexible. But we can choose to die to self — to choose Jesus — and love those who the world deems unlovable (Mark 10:31).
