The Waiting Room

In our instant gratification society today, waiting is counter-culture. But what does that mean when it comes to waiting on God? No matter what you’re waiting for — finances, career, family, healing, purpose — that season of life can be lonely (Exodus 32:1-4). So many of us fall into the trap of making bad, rash decisions when we don’t want to wait on God. When our securities are shaken, it’s hard to trust Him. But truly waiting on God means fully trusting Him. It’s believing that God’s timing is always right and that His plans are better than ours. If you’re in a waiting season, don’t create substitute saviors. We might feel lost while we’re waiting on God, but He never makes us wait in vain. While we are waiting for God’s next steps, don’t waste the season and lean into what He’s trying to teach you. We must make the most of the season we’re in because during this period, God will grow us and mold us so we come out of this time stronger (Hebrews 12:11-13).

It’s tempting to look for the quick fix while we’re waiting, but don’t! That will cause us to settle for less than what God wants us to be. He is invested in the long- term returns of our efforts — we reap what we sow (Galatians 6:7-8) — so don’t give up on doing good (Galatians 6:9-10Hebrews 10:23).

Points To Ponder
1)  How can I remain hopeful in 2022?
2)  What do I do when I experience setbacks? What should I be doing?
3)  Am I letting God take the lead in my life? If not, why am I having a hard time surrendering?
