Wondering What Your Life Purpose Is?

Sunday, June 12, 2022

It’s human nature to want to control and maneuver the direction our lives take. We make decisions based on what’s best for ourselves and our families, planning as best we can to ensure a positive outcome. Even with careful preparation, though, our best efforts will fall short and we’re left wondering what our purpose is. The good news is that we don’t have to try so hard to have it all figured out because God already does (Jeremiah 29:11Proverbs 16:1). The best decisions in life aren’t based on we think is “best” or “right.” Rather, they’re based on where God wants us because a life filled with significance is one that brings glory to God (Psalm 57:1-2Colossians 3:17Psalm 19:1). Often, we related the good things that happen in life to how well we are walking in His purpose, but that’s not always the case. When we experience challenges, we question and doubt where and why He has us in a certain place. When that turmoil sits within our souls, the frustration can lead us to walk away from the very purpose He created for us (Ephesians 2:10). But when we allow the Holy Spirit to sit in our hearts instead, we place Him at the center of our lives where He rightfully belongs (Psalm 57:3-11). God has to be our only refuge because when we entrust our lives to Him in that way, it brings Him the most glory. If we want to understand our purpose, it’s never more clear than when He is at the center of our lives. After all, He’s the only one who will never fail us (Psalm 57:1).

Points To Ponder
1. In what area of my life am I but it for meaning or answers?
2. Who/what is sitting at the center of my life right now? If it’s not God, what steps can I take to place Him at the center?
3. How is God getting the glory in my life?
