God’s heart is to show His love to a fallen world, and He uses Christians to do it! But it’s hard to make a difference in the lives of others when we’re unprepared for the task at hand. Others should see Christ in us, and we can’t make a difference if we don’t live how Jesus lived. We are changed by Jesus to live like Jesus, and he shapes our thoughts, desires, goals, reactions, and hearts to mimic Him (Matthew 4:18-20). Spiritual formation happens when we spend time with God in prayer and reading the Bible, and our mission flows from that, pressing upon our hearts to share His grace with those around us. When we allow the Holy Spirit to continually change us, we can grow intentionally and with purpose (Galatians 4:19; John 15:5; 2 Corinthians 3:18). Once we’re attuned to His voice, we’ll be able to see the heart of God and His desire for us to know His goodness and then act on it, so He gets the glory (Matthew 23:23-24; Matthew 5:14-16).
